Lancaster Park & Animal Farm

Just two minutes’ walk from our front door, Lancaster Park & Animal Farm is a family favourite. Home to over 50 species, it’s the place to meet friendly farm animals, hop on the tractor ride, or let the little ones run wild in the play area. A proper local gem right on Haigh Lane.

Chadderton Hall Park

A short 10-minute stroll brings you to Chadderton Hall Park, with riverside paths, open lawns, and a cracking play area for the kids. The Rochdale Canal runs nearby, making it perfect for a walk before or after a visit to the pub.

Foxdenton Park & Hall

Rochdale Canal Towpath

Running directly behind the pub, the Rochdale Canal is one of our favourite spots. You can head north towards Mills Hill or south towards Oldham for an easy, scenic walk — or just enjoy the view from our beer garden with a pint in hand.

Getting around

To get to The Rose of Lancaster from Manchester city centre, take the Pink Line (Oldham & Rochdale Line) from St Peter’s Square. Alight at Freehold tram stop. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes, with trams departing every 5 minutes. From Freehold tram stop, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the pub.

The same route works in reverse to return to Manchester city centre. Fares are typically around £2–£4 per journey.

Lancaster Park & Animal Farm

Lancaster Park & Animal Farm is just a short two minute walk away from us. There, you and your little ones will be able to experience getting up close with the small wildlife and farm animals. There are also a number of child friendly rides that have been added to the farm, which should keep them entertained.

Chadderton Park

In the mood for a stroll before tucking into a pub lunch? Chadderton Hall Park is a short walk away and can be accessed by both Haigh Lane road or via the scenic canal route, which can be accessed at the back of our beer garden.
